The name came from a random inscription on the back page of a book of beat poetry by Jack Kerouac (“1 June The 1975”). You might assume that it was a significant year for the band, but not a bit of it. It really does feel as if it could be 1975 at Healy’s home in east London. An Olivetti typewriter is perched on the living room table, a series of 20th-century clocks on the wall. Welcome to the world of the 1975, Healy’s chart-topping band.
